Driving Awards

We made it to our new apartment in Texas.  Things are great--Ben hasn't started his next rotation so we just hang out all day and spend our loan money prematurely.  It's probably a good thing that Ben is going to have a lot of hours because we just buy things when we're together.  We're much more frugal when we're apart.

And now, for the Driving To Texas Awards!!!

The winner of the Holding It Award goes to . . . Clark Francisco!  He didn't have one accident the entire trip, and got to go to the bathroom in lots of interesting places.

The winner of the Ta-Duh Award goes to. . . Eva Francisco!  Anytime she was looking for something and she found it, she announced it "Ta-Duh here it is!" In one breath.  As though "ta-duh" was as normal a word as "Look".

And the winner of the Patience and Healthy Imagination Award goes to. . . Myra Jane Francisco!  She spent about 25 hours facing backward in a moving vehicle with only the back of the seat and a brown paper bag in her line of sight.

And now, while you are waiting for the refreshments and the afterparty, enjoy a slideshow of our stop in Monument Valley.  (Award to greatest photographer goes to Ben Francisco)

Were you a contender for any awards? I'd be sad if you got shut out, because I'm sure you did something noteworthy, too!

If the kids held it together that well you flat out get mom of the year award. Looks like another beautiful adventure.

Oh my gosh, your post totally made me laugh. My hubby and I are definitely more frugal apart as well!! I can go to Target without him and spend 30 bucks. If he comes, I can't get out for less than 100!!

Congrats on getting their safely.

Upon completing car trips with my kids I have no praise, only grumpy words threatening to bubble out. You are a supermom, Jan.

@Janel: you'll notice this post was written a week later.

Well deserved awards... since neither of my kids would have won any one of those awards. So, Jan, I guess that gives you the Super Amazing Mom award.

I hope everything is going well for you guys. I miss your sense of humor.

Oh, and I heard that today was a special day for you, Jan. Happy Birthday! You are almost as old as I am. But not quite.
