There is a Battle of Iwo Jima museum here. The centerpiece is the original sculpture of the Battle of Iwo Jima that is in D.C. - the plaster that the bronze was cast from. It is huge.
The museum has some nice tanks and guns on display outside (no climbing on them though, Russians would have let us).
I am so grateful to live in this country. It is amazing how much we have, how free we are, and how much these servicemen have given us. It would break my heart to have to watch these two work in labor camps, or get bombed on the way to the store, or get kidnapped into some sort of forced militia. This happens so often in the third and second world--but we are so blessed to be here.

I am too grateful for all our servicemen and women who volunteer their time for our country. And for those, in our country who volunteer to make it a better place.

Weren't you amazed at the size of the statue? We saw it in DC and I couldn't believe how big it was. I too am grateful.

If you are at all interested in the battle of Iwo Jima, you should read "Flags of our Fathers" by James Bradley. It was a good book (and I'm not usually too into war books).
