Ben finished his final final last Friday at noon, so Spring Break 2008 officially began at 12:01.
Here are some of the highlights (sorry, we were too busy having fun to take any pictures):
1) Ben heard me express my desire to get ready for the day, saw me change out of my exercize/cleaning clothes, put on regular clothes and do my hair and makeup. Then he saw how in a matter of 5 minutes, I was splattered with squash flying out of a spoon that Clark didn't want to have anything to do with, peed on, and had a piece of bread with meat on it smeared into my shirt. Now he understands why sometimes it just doesn't make sense for me to make the effort.
2) Ben made beautiful planter boxes for our balcony-herb garden. We also got to plant our REAL garden on Saturday. So beautiful. So small.
3) Pork dumplings with dipping sauce from "Gin", Raspberry muffins from Grumma Spencer, pizza from The Pie, pizza from Pier 49, and smoothies.
4) Having our car in the shop for two days gave us LOTS of time to walk around town, doing our errands, going out to eat, talking and getting sunburned (that's right, there is SUN here). I totally recommend it.
5) Two flights that were unremarkable. This means that nothing bad happened and Clark was pretty well behaved.
6) Seeing our wonderful families is always a highlight. We are so lucky to have such great people shaping our lives.
7)Anna's blessing and subsequent pizza party.
**by the way, if you want to make a KILLER ice cream cake, do what my little sister did--put down 5 unwrapped ice cream sandwiches. Cover with Cool Whip and Heath bar/Skor chunks. Repeat with another layer of sandwiches, then Cool Whip-it-good, then another. Then smear that delicious non-dairy concoction all over the top and sides and sprinkle more candy on it. It is so good, and so easy**
8) Helping the Bride and Groom escape from their reception. good times. . . good times.
9) Seeing the fish, 100-year-old Lobster, freaky octopus, and touching sting rays at the Albertson's Aquarium. (Its actually called the Living Planet Aquarium or something, but it is in an old grocery store). It was really cool--recommended for anyone in Northern Utah (Thanks Grampa Bus!). Clark LOVED to watch the sharks. Then he liked to point at all the "bucks" at Cabellas.
10) Seeing Clark get smarter. He can now clap and kiss on demand. And shake or nod his head based on what he wants. Communication really makes SUCH a huge difference.
I wish EVERY week were Spring Break. I also wish that the school would still give Ben a diploma with him on Spring Break every week.

Sounds like you had a GREAT time! I agree; being able to understand what Little Sal wants makes my day soooo much easier. Congrats to Clark for being so smart!
Oh how fun. I just love how every celebration revolves around food when you're an adult and everything sounded so delicious. I'm itching to see you guys!
I'm glad you enjoyed your break, and I'm even more glad you two were such a help on the flight home! Thanks!!!
Aren't spring breaks great!!! I'm glad you got to go do fun stuff with your family. We are having ours right now. It's SO nice to have a break from everything. Love it!
